Hi all,

been riding for many years in many disciplines, my era being the BMX scene of the 80s.

Got back into retro BMX about 8 years ago and restored a few classics and raced OS bmx and got into a bit of the new school riding too. A motorbike accident soon put stop to that unfortunately and had to give up the 20" due to the cramped position.

Next obvious step was MTB so after trying a few cheapies invested in an Orange Elite to do some XC racing but soon found out that my fitness wasnt up to my stamina or my enthusiasm so opted instead to go full suss and enjoy the easy life of riding down trails which gives me my little bit of a buzz to make it all worthwhile.

Still riding with a bit of trepidation until i get my confidence back up but enjoying every mud soaked minute of it.

Usually ride down at Danbury as its only 10 mins away but intend to do a few journeys further afield this year.

Sounds similar to me..sod XC..just lots of DH for an easy life :). Recently went to Morzine (my bruv has chalet there) with a group who were very into XC and they went off most days doing long routes, includiong most of Portes de Soliel whilst I just went up n down runs all day..far easier..in fact on the first day we all rode into Morzine to get lift passes and I really showed off my unfitness as by the time we got there I felt sick...ha..:)

Were you a frequent visitor on RAD?

I've been on there a fair few years. I sadly only have the white TA and Haro Freestyler now. All the others were sold about 6 years ago and I still kick myself every other week that i sold them lol

Great BMX's, love the skyway tuffs. I too am a ex 80's BMX'er was even in a sponsored stunt team early 80's. My last one was a Redline, sadly my skills got left in the 80's along with my youth lol but MTB just puts the same old smile back on my face..

Happy memories of the Rom and who remembers Andy Ruffell :)

Yup know Andy from our bmx beat days! Was lucky to ride with a few people that went onto great things, local lads to me included craig schofield, Mark "sid" Salisbury, Craig and Frasier Campbell. Benfleet and Rayleigh had some talent in the 80's !

Sent from my GT-I9100

ha..Just reading these posts got my thinking back and Craig Schofield's name popped up, used to sit next to him in most of my classes at school (King John) and was fun guy...annoyed teachers who wernt impressed with his academic skills but he proudly boast he'd just had free trip to california or something, ..used to borrow his bike(s) on occasion which impressed my friends no end :)
