I kinda like the sound if this..

http://www.southerndownhill.com/racing/ ... eries.html

...the England Wales rounds might be worth a go. Rounds Four is Eastridge, Shrewsbury and five is Bryn Betws

Bit of info here

Quote:

What are the events going to look like?
It's going to be the same format as an Avalanche enduro race with Saturday practice, a seeding run in the afternoon and racing on Sunday. Every round will have five stages and you'll be given a certain amount of time to get to a stage, then you're timed on that stage. At the end your times are added together and you get a winner!

How full-on will the stages be?
You will be able to ride them on a five or six inch trail bike, it's not full-on downhill. Although some of the sections on some of the trails will be technically testing. It's going to be just like going out to a trail centre with your mates, but you'll get times at the end.

Once a bit more detail is confirmed I might get my name down for one.

The website sttes

Aside from racing the SixSixOne Gravity Enduro offers a packed pit area which has:

•Trade stands
•Tech/Service area
•Demo rides for family/friends while you are racing
•Free camping for everyone
Each rider will also receive a copy of Singletrack magazine

Proberly due to the top end sponsers, still not worth £60 :D

It does seem expensive and I hadn't noticed it was £60. It only makes sense when you compare it to other events....

Races like Aston hill are run on one track with one set of marshals and within a confined space. They can use beam breaking timing technology for the results. They cost £22+5 to enter - (I think that was the last fee which I thought was steep but I know that they don't make any real money on these races)

Enduro races are split over essentially 5 tracks which means 5* the timing equipment /marshals/medical teams and organisation. They also need to use chip timers rather than beam breakers like aston and porc which are more pricey to hire. Also I imagine the fee for getting a weekends use of a place like Afan is more than it costs at Aston or Porc. Im not entirely sure of the format, and im sure they can shuffle the gear and people around so they don't need 5* everything, but the logistics of these events are a lot more than a race on one track.

Thus it costing 2-3 times as much as a one run race kinda makes sense.

Still.... £60 is a lot to splash on a race for sure.

Porc was £15 race entry but then is very low key and no seeding run.

I fancy giving a few of these a go - seems like the perfect motivation for skills and fitness training over winter and spring, and perfect Nomad territory.

£60 seems steep but I am a believer in you get what you pay for.

Long drive i know but the Innerleithen one is definately on the list

The porc number was not meant as a criticism. As Jon says plenty more to organise for this.

Ah this makes more sense of it

Quote:
Enduro racing is a cross country based event and is normally run on an existing red route cross country loop. The event is run like a stage rally event where each rider has to complete a set amount of stages, most of the timed stages will be downhill but some will have uphill sections. Each event will consist of five competitive stages where you will be set off as an individual with a gap between each rider. At the end of each stage you will ride on a non-timed section to get to the next stage, this will involve riding uphill. The times for the link sections will be very generous so you don’t have to ride quick on these sections, you will have time to take it easy. The rider with the quickest overall time for the 5 timed stages will win their category. Each stage will be electronically timed with manual backup. The final stage will have live timing with a results screen in the pit area, this means there will be no waiting around to find out your results.

Good write up on it here
