Rode a bit of the Chiltern way and Ridgeway yesterday....

Nice views

I started at the eastern end, Ivinghoe Beacon and the route runs through woods. The western end is more open as it come out on to the Ridgeway itself.

The trails are nothing technical, just mile after mile of this.... Lovely ride :)

You had to watch for suicidal dogs and brain dead walkers though ;)

The whole trail is 88 miles long.... record for the double, 175 miles - 13hrs 26 mins.... he did it on a single speed :wtf:

In the really unlikely event that I could maintain my average speed of 9 mph for the whole 175 miles it seems I would take about 20 hrs :D

If you add it the time I spent looking at the map, eating lunch, taking pictures and generally not actually cycling then about 1 day 5hrs

Must admit I was starting to get worried as the first 5 miles were pretty much down hill.... but then the next 7 was pretty much a continuous climb so that made me feel better :D

I only manage to arrange for the whole ride to be uphill in Epping.... other places I just have to go with the flow ;)
