There are 4 or 5 main tracks iirc.

All quite different and very fun, and there isnt anything to catch you out on any of them, a small drop off on the bottom of the black run which you can go round. All taped along as well so you dont get lost. Great downhill tracks but the push up is interesting!

The red run is a nice run although quite rooty from memory, always try and stay high on the camber and fast. After 5-6 runs though the hike up does get heavy on the legs. Fun though.

All the runs are rooty! its just you dont feel it so much on the red run because you can fly over them! Yea that off camber bit was fun, just tell yourself not to touch the brakes and its fine!

Funny you say that, , me and the gf are planning a working holiday to canada in 2014, and Ive said we can only go if we stay near vancouver so I can ride/work at whistler, and shes agreed. :) hello amazing trails!

and Muzza, i think some people do the red on hardtails, Which would be ok, Ive not ridden a hardtail there but its very bumpy on the other runs, someone else on here might have a better idea.

*Might* be okay on the red, I think the black is full of steps and rooty turns, so a full-sus sucks up the vibration. Fine as long as you don't have any loose teeth

I would love to come.

Couple of questions though
Is my bike suitable for the black runs?
Protection: Is full face helmet/goggles a must? Also any suggestions on good knee/elbow pads as I need to buy them before 20th?

any bike is suitable really just depends on the speed you hit stuff at.

a full face would be a def for me as i have whacked the floor a few times in mine and don't fancy it with just a pie case on.

661 is a good cheap manufacturer of protective gear or o'neal or troy lee designs.

the cheapest brands like brand x or whatever tend not to stay put as well as the pricier ranges.

I've ridden Aston and not used a full face, but did have Race Face Rally FR knee and elbow pads on, fortunately they didn't get called into action. I snowboard as well, so have shock protector undershorts on also, which save the thighs from a battering if sliding down hill is involved. For "normal" riding I just wear 661 Rage knee and the FR elbow pads (Afan, Coed)....I might get some Rage Elbow actually as they are soft shell.

In short, the more protection the better, but Aston needs a little more protection than Thorndon

It looks like I'll be doing some research and shopping in the nxt days.
Trouble is how you try helmets online!?! :)
Shall I go with the same size as my normal xc one?
