Hey all,

I'm gonna pay my first trip to Danbury tomorrow, my wife and daughter want to tag along but want to know if there is anything there for them to do as I will be whizzing around on me kona.
Thanks

Danbury Common is a wildlife site and the actual common has loads of people going there to walk around and stuff.

It's scenic and there's a couple of good gastro pubs nearby.

It's not all bad and there are often other people around. There's some good viewing places by the canyons too.

As long as they keep open minded and are happy to wonder they should have a fairly good time!

:)

Thanks dmrdan that's good news apart from the pubs as pubs = beer + mtb = trouble.

Beer = dehydration = shorter time riding = wasted time

Get loose on the adrenaline dude. It's free and better.

And she says "yes"!

Do you want to meet at 1130am by the canyon on the small bomb hole side on the firetrack with the big house on it, nearest the top?

If you park in the car park in Bicnacre Road (on your left heading towards Bicnacre, on your right heading towards Danbury), park in the section of car park to the left.

There is a firetrack by the top nearest the thicket of woods. Follow that away from the entrance, going straight.

Keep following the trail across the firetrack junction and onwards. When you come to a fork after an incline, go left and follow the track upwards. After a lil while you'll see some trails and on your right will be the canyons.

I always warm up on the small bomb holes with small kickers before hitting the runs.

I'll hopefully be about on a silver DMR hardtail wearing a red and White alpinestars jersey and blue full face.

Have you got much riding experience?

Cheers, well I've been on and off my bike for about 20 years (more off than on) started on a bmx to a rigid mtb (didn't have suspension when I started) jeez I sound old. Anyhow I am a bit of a jack of all trades on a bike done the dh stuff bit of trials (posted some vids of my younger days in the bike chat section) and some xc. I'd like to think I'm ok and will hopefully get back home in one piece tomorrow. I'll be on a green kona stuff with White leavers and callipers.

I managed to find the car park rode in the wrong direction and ended up in the car park. Fortunately I saw a chap pull up with all the gear so tagged along with him.

Well it was my first tine at Danbury and was quite impressed, done the runs from the house following the chap I met and a few surprises appeared in front of me "steep bloody drops" I came off a lip to find there was no ground underneath me just another drop.
Came close to stacking a couple of times but once I'd done them a few times my confidence grew.

Had a blast and will defo try to visit the place a few more times.
Couldn't see you dmrdan.

I saw-

A blue kona with White grips and said hello...

A red and White specialised full suss with a weird looking black full face and a younger lad on another bike and said hello...

Saw a group of three riders and said hello....

I was there dude with a curly and curvy blonde girl in a grey hoodie :)

Nope don't sound like me. I got there about 12.30 ish and saw none of the above. Glad I met the chap or I would never have found the place nor known the runs.
