Bike shorts all the way - If you're concerned about the lycra you can wear baggy shorts over the top.

Or get some bike specific shorts as mentioned earlier, they are worth the money.

But if you really want to wear trackie bottoms, then cut them off at calf level and you'll be good to go!

X5 for shorts, if its cold i wear cycling legging things underneath them.
