Just collected a Commencal MAXMAX from a nice man in colchester.

IT's a fully rigid jump bike.
Alu frame and a Steel fork.
Vbrakes at the mo but it has disc adaptors so i'll get round to that at a later date.

I have been after a nice simple bike for a while and this one was too good a price to miss.

Looking forward to getting out on it at baddow pump track and hopefully warley assuming my talent stretches that far.

A couple of cleaned up pics

Nice, i nearly bought one of those a while back but was too taken with the Dialled bikes frame i have, but it was right up on the list, although the one i saw had shocks up front.

They do them as absolute's with suspension forks.

i want to progress on the bike in the jumping side of things so i'm going back to basics.
i may well add an argyle in the future

Saddle is a monster but quite hardy

Why you wanna swap for discs? Thats utterly pointless. When jumping etc, the brakes dont generate enough heat to warrant discs. Unlike downhill where your dragging your brakes for long periods of time.
There is no advantage running discs for jumping.

Proper bagin tho....they are good frames!

I would say there is an advantage as although they dont generate the heat the greater stopping power helps if you need to stop mid pack on a dirt jump set so you dont have to bail off and if you buckle a wheel you dont get an annoying rub which means you dont have to stop to true it every time and can just true after each ride (obviously depending on the size of the buckle!)

You shouldnt be jumping in rain or mud.
By doing so you will ruin the dirt jumps. Last thing you want is a reputation for destroying peoples jumps.

My comment was slightly mucking about, must remember subtle jokes don't work on the internet... but yes that's true for proper dirt jumps. Though I have ended up in the wet on my jump bike on more free-ridey type runs/jumps and been pleased of disc brakes.

Blimey it got out of control really quickly!

my thoughts on the discs are two fold.

i have some doing nothing

V Brakes flex so much and as per above mentions of truing mid ride are annoying.

Discs are progress

to be fair though the furthest i have been on it is a lap of the cul de sac so far.
