What a disaster. Shame it happened so early into the ride but at the same time you are lucky it did not happen at Paper Mill Lock. |

Yeah it was the superstar glad it was cheap I've just ordered a new bb. Loctite yeah bloody auto correct. It's the only bit not done but a high risk area I think How do I torque my bb cups I only have a park ht2 tool and just do them to white knuckles and never had a total failure before |

I'm on a shoestring budget at the moment and my wheels and stem have been good value for money |

I had one of their stems once. It cracked by the bolts. I may have over tightened but still, be aware! |

The BBs are good and last just as long any others I had. My XO one had to be stripped as it had seized after one wet ride! Adam dont put thread loc on it, be a nightmare to get off. Tugger it cracked as you over tightened it. Any stem will crack if you do that. |

Chainguides have been poor in my experience also. I honestly dont think i overtightened it but can be only explanation. I dont trust them as a result. Like anything one bad experience I woulldn't go back. There are some ridiculous things written on here so I take that as a complement! |

I torque wrench all my bits with a dab of loctite with no issues. Eccles that's my opinion also I'll just fit the new one without as normal it's never happened before and properly won't happen again fingers crossed |

Some people recommend a dab of grease not loctite on the cup threads as this can help removal and also help prevent creaking. Sounds like the bearing in yours was completely shot and stuck to the cup causing it to work itself undone. I have an allen key operated BB tool that I can fit my torque wrench to an torque to around 400 inch pounds I think. I still recommend an XTR BB90 bottom bracket for about £21 from Rose Bikes, out of stock at the moment though. Alternatively if you have an old Shimano BB51 or BB70 you can replace the bearings in them easily and cheaply. |
