Hello!

Bought a Rockhopper about 3 months ago and basically its been gathering dust ever since. I've finally decided to get my arse into gear and get out onto some proper terrain..However don't know where to start..

Does anybody have any maps or route suggestions in and around the Havering area?...I'm looking forward to getting a bit muddy ;-)

And if anyone else is nearby and wants a tag a long, theres a beer in it!

Cheers in advance!

Ben

Welcome Ben

Theres a few of us around Hornchurch and Upminster, main local areas are Thorndon and Warley at Brentwood although there are bits to ride else where. Belhus country Park and Berwick woods has a few gravel paths and a couple of more MTB lines. Theres the Thurrock loop which takes in Belhus, Cely woods, Berwick woods, Hornchurch Country Park, Rainham marsh, Thames sea wall and Thurruck. Theres the bits of Thames Chase either the main place in Pike Lane or across the A127 from front Lane or the bits along hall lane and Nags head lanes. They are all gravel paths but some fast down hill drags.

Hi Ben,
As AgentOrange said and...

Brickfields, Cranham if you are looking for mud. Clay - loads of clay that binds ya wheels solid.
Folkes Lane woodland, with link to Beredens Ln and Tyler's wood and common.

You can also use a sports tracker like Strava or Endomondo to pick up local routes or Openstreetmap for access points to bridleways e.g. http://www.strava.com/routes/85147 or http://www.endomondo.com/routes/302859520

Hi Guys,

I'm moving to Hornchurch in a week and a half.

I've been living in South Wales the last year and I've been a bit spoilt, but I'd love to find some local trails and meet some local mountain bikers. Message me if you fancy a ride sometime.

All the best,

Yianni

Dude, somebody will say it so I may as well... Always travel with spare tube, levers, multitool, spare chain link, chain splitter (mins on my multitool) and a few other things.

Costs pennies really and saves rides ;)

As you are local I hope to see you on the Thurrock loop some time ;)
