Hi Folks,

Just entered Thetford winter series. It's on next Sunday on the 2nd November but according to site you need to enter before midnight tonight (Tuesday).

I've entered the 2 hour race (Wife let me out last weekend-lucky to get 2 hours!).
Anybody else thinking of doing it?

I'd offer to drive (I'm in Braintree) but it's hard enough to get one bike into the Ka (old type) and I've no bike carrier.

Hope to see some of you there

Hi Andy,

Would have loved to do 4 hour but only got the pass for 2 hour. Anyhow it's my first go in Thetford so 2 hours should tell a lot. My race number is 87 and I'm be on a white boardman....yes the entry level one! Come over and say hello and that goes for anybody else reading this.

Should be a good one!

John

He will mate, just give him a little time. John spent the whole 1.5hr journey time back from Bedgebury saying go much more fun MTB is, how boring is riding on a flat tarmac for hrs, abuse from drivers etc. Not to mention how miserable the roadies can be - he said :o :o

Good luck John and Andy. I shall see you in the next round, hopefully.

Hi Folks,

I like the way Whytey has a vivid imagination. I believe he was talking about himself!

Sorry Andy that I didn't get to meet you...what a crowd....next time we'll meet up. Well done for doing the 4 hr ....that has got be tough!

Finished myself 66 out of 98 in vets and was tired at the end. Completed 4 laps and the last two were a mud fest. Remi.... I think 2 hour might be enough for me as both my hands were tingling at the end....imagine what they would be like after 4 (congrats Andy)! Witnessed 5 crashes or is the term wipeouts!!! All safe just slipping on mud.

Will do it again but looking like the 2 hour unless I get help on the tingling and my upper body being knackered!

It felt as if I could read your mind John ;-)

Well done mate. The mud really becomes a nuisance there when 300 riders ride the same single track. 4hr ride is tough but manageable as long as you dont try to race from the start (speaking about myself here). A steady pace will see you through. I was not bothered about the lap times, I was new to the sport, I just wanted to ride for 4hrs and that was it.

We do that next time, right? Were there many bomb holes? One of the races has a few but I cant remember which one.

Hi John and All great day wish I did 2hr under estimated course. over estimated my fitness not booked in for series 2. But in for 3 and 4 so plenty of training to do. But I have booked in for falling leaves so that will be part of my training. ( Body over 50 brain thinks its still 25 )

Its easily done Adam. It would not be that difficult in drier conditions. Its the mud that makes it twice as hard.

Yep that mud was getting worse the more you went around. Two bomb holes or climbs but one was so slippery in the end that I walked up it ...and so did the others around me. Yep Remi will do again but still will debate 2 or 4. We'll fight it out in Danbury!
