I've got the bike, got the bike carrier, so I'm ready to explore.

I live in Burnham, I would like to find my way around the various trails and become familiar with them so I can take my 13 year old. I'm not the fittest, but certainly working on it.

Can anyone show me around Epping on Sunday morning? Ideally a tour of the easier sections.

I can probably get over there for about 10am.

Thanks

If I go on my own, are the trails signed or is local knowledge needed?

Definitely local knowledge. Mad even thinking about riding epping at the moment as it's going to be soo gloopy.

Ive been there many times and i still cant even throw a route together if i were to be riding by myself. Local knowledge for sure.

Epping can still be enjoyed in the really gloopyness. Just depends if its your thing or not. I personally enjoy it!

Ok thanks, so if not Epping, where would you recommend? I don't think I need technical trails right now, just looking to get out for a ride.

I might try Bedgebury.

Dave - id say Bedgebury is a good bet. You wont have to find your way round as everything is marked up for you

Trail hunting as well as dealing with December mud would be hard work first time out.

Its a real shame that Hadleigh is open yet!

Yeah, I figured I would need some signage to help me out. Looking at the Bedgebury vids, it looks quite easy, ie, no big jumps or sudden drops etc. plus, if I nesh out completely I can do a couple of laps of the FAMILY trail

I'm going down tomorrow. It's about 1h 45 mins drive.
Will be aiming to be there mid morning. Taking my son, will hire a bike for him for the day.
I don't know how long we will be there for, a good few hours I guess. I'll PM you my mobile number, if we are there at the same time it will be good to say hi.

OK, trip report.

It all went stunningly well !

My son and I set off at 8.30, arrived by 10ish, easy drive.

Hired a bike for Aaron, Terrible bike, too small, gears that would not shift easily and rim brakes. But he got on and gave it everything. The climbs around the Blue route were an issue for him (considering the bike he was on), but we happily went down several of the red routes. Great fun.

I can happily report my bike is awesome !!
Can't wait to go again with Aaron and his new bike.

The Cafe in the tent appeared to be open.
Tracks were muddy, a few puddles here and there, gloopy mud on some of the entries and exits into the red routes. but overall, considering the very wet weather we have had, I thought the conditions were great.
