Hello guys, ive been on before with a few questions about riding areas.I was based in Upminster at the time but am in the middle of a house move to south ockendon.I notice that there are quite a few people into mtbing around the area regularly seeing large groups out at the wkend. Is there offroad paths etc accessible in the area?Last time langdon hills or torndon have been mentioned but i didnt have a helmet etc so didnt want to venture down there which I will do in a few weeks once settled in but in the short-term,have you any areas to recommend thanks

I'm in Ockendon as well and we used to do the Thurrock loop (meet at Bannatynes Gym and then do a 25 mile loop up through Ockendon/Upminster/Rainham/Thames path). It's about 75% off road.

In the area you have as you have noted Thorndon - there are normally rides there Saturday/Sunday mornings that leave from the Kart Track carpark.

I don't know of a formal ride at Langdon Hills but they come up from time to time.

There are loads and loads of trails locally - best bet is to get on Strava or Endomondo and look them up - they are easy to follow.

If you keep an eye out in the Ride Calendar section of the forum you see stuff come up :)

a bit of the thames loop, to give you a bit of an idea. You can also get over to Ingerborne do do a loop into upminster (there is a little trail to play on there as well)

Thanks mattvanders,my only mtbing to date has involved heading down to upminster park, through Hornchurch football gounds and over into hornchurch country park, then down to ingerborne hill for a few laps of the mtb track there which is great fun.....until you crash whilst avoiding a couple of joggers coming up the wrong way, blind bit that ducks behind the trees,if you know it.really looking forward to exploring more areas.
