This site is slowwww nowadays. A few years ago it was fairly busy. Dont lose heart if you dont get a reply for a while. Im sure loads of people who are members on this board ride epping, and will happily meet up.

Ive been through a similar situation. My advice is just to hang in there. At one point i genuinely thought my riding life was over forever. But then slowly I was able to get back into it, and started to remember why i used to ride.

Its the perfect activity to forget about everything and just focus on the task in hand. It gives me much needed space, exertion and something with my own goals.

Good luck!!!!

I end up doing a real mixture of riding on my own and with others, I have my local trails, the normal weekend road trips to Surrey hills and then the odd race day to try somewhere new. Sometimes it can be hard to motivate myself but I would say ridding something different does help. Also if on my own listening to music helps a lot. Road trip abroad really helped me for a bit of winter sun.

This group needs a FB presence. I noticed in the FAQ's they say they don't because not everyone has FB. But it would be a simple case of creating an event on here and then just copying and pasting the web page address (URL) into the FB group wall.

People don't like having to check different forums.

Hi all

I just found this site and thanks for adding me as a member.

I've ridden Epping for around 10 years and last year due to health issues I had really lost my motivation also. A lot of it I put down to riding alone and most of the time only Epping. The dark muddy winters didn't help either.

Well, I went out and bought a new bike worth £5k+ that helped a bit but due to my age (48) and health (diabetic) I found it tough, and really didn't like the climbs (I never did really).

Now, I'm a changed man - I absolutely love riding. After a bike trip to Italy where I struggled, I rented a cheap eMTB, I was blown away. On my return, I bought a Specialised Levo Turbo eMTB and suddenly I remembered why I fell in love with mountain biking back in the 90's. I cruise up the hills, can do a 3 hour ride with no difficulty and keep up with others.

So how does it feel? Imagine you've just had the best night's sleep ever, you've had the strongest cup of coffee, followed by a visit to Lance Armstrong's favourite doctor - that's what it feels like to ride a Specialised Levo Turbo.

I know there's a lot of haters out there but I suggest you try one out at your local Specialized store, it'll change your whole outlook on biking. If you see me whizzing around Epping on a bright green Levo, stop me if you can and say hi!

Paul

I was waiting for the uplift at Bikepark Wales when a guy went flying past going uphill on his Lapierre carbon Overvolt ebike. He was riding sidesaddle, full face helmet hanging off one end of his bars, puffing on a cigarette with his free hand!!

Thats when i realised i needed an ebike!!
