Hi guys, does anyone know of any good places to go for a weekend of mtb? Me and my brother are thinking of going, Ive had a look at some places in Wales, got distracted looking up youtube vids of the black runs some of those places have tho lol. We are both quite inexperienced mountain bikers tho ride on the roads quite a bit. I've started offroad riding now and all I can say is tarmac sucks. Cheers |

What you looking for? Id suggest going somewhere elsewhere before Wales...get some proper practise in! There is chicken runs round alot of stuff tho. |

Epping is fantastic place to start out. Nothing that cant be rolled. Definite confidence building terrain. Otherwise Afan Wales is close enough and has something for nearly everyone. |

Thanks noel, i went out in epping forest the other day just from the hollow ponds, along through the forest past the waterworks and then cut downhill through to hyams park lake. It was good fun theres some good downhill bits there. Im going to have to go and do it again after work tomorrow. Karve, ive Ive ridden all around the hollow ponds and down through epping forest around the hyams park, mostly single track but on the big paths going downhill. Ive also ridden along the river roding out to the nature reserve where theres loads of single track and a good hill. Im getting more confident. Ive only just got a bike good enough to take out in the forest really. |

If you just want a weekend away thats not too far, try thetford, ideal beginners teretory as not much in the way of hills, enough trails to keep you busy and no big drops, the hardest thing you'll come accross is a section called the beast, and its not really, its more of a friendly hamster. The Red route is fast and fun, the black is long annoying and tireing. just make sure you clean your bike after as the sandy surface likes to eat bearings and brake pads. |
