So I am off in December for a family holiday and my birthday!

Staying at the budget friendly Pontins,,,,,,,,well thats if it doesn't go bankrupt before then.

Has anyone stayed or mountain biked around the area?

I will be doing a trip to Snodonia on my birthday and maybe some of the other days, but its an hours drive each way, so I was hoping there was something closer too worth checking out?

Looking for any good riding really within and hours drive.....or hopefully closer?

I thought they went bankrupt a few weeks ago

No, they haven't gone under. It turns out the bank wouldn't give them an overdraft, like it normally does every year. So they decided to go brankrupt but there is a buyer and loads of other mitigating circumstances. So they should be fine.

"says a little payer"

We booked it long before all this went down and now we hearing all sorts of horror stories, so we worried, but I am just gonna focus on the riding.

Anyone ridden Mnt Snowdin?

never been up to that corner but the following is just on the edge of an hour:
penmancho (near bets y coed)
marin trail (start is close to llanrwrst)
Coed Llandegla Forestm(http://www.coedllandegla.com/)
I've hiked snowdon last summer and seen a lot of guys carrying their bike

Don't think there's much fun in riding unless you go unless you hide your bike in the train and only ride down. its not that suitable to riding compared to the walking track of ben nevis

Been up Snowdon a couple of times, using the Llanberis path route up and down. Like Crash says there is plenty of hike-a-bike on the way up, and the trails can be busy with hikers, but it's good fun coming down.
1st time we made it to the top, but there was zero visability and ft or so of snow for the top few 100 meters which was good fun, 2nd time only made it 2/3s up because of the weather.
It's worth doing if you get the chance, there is also the Ranger trail which I believe is a even more technical descent, but don't know much about it.
If you go check the weather, and be good at hopping drainage channels or take a few spare tubes ;)

Yeh, I reckon I am pretty much guaranteed shoit weather. But I reckon it'll just add to the drama. ;)

Really in two minds about which bike to take. Really looking forward to an Epic climb on birthday, just to prove I can.

Will google gps routes for both.

Cheers Gents

Have a look at this for the different tracks.

http://www.hightrek.co.uk/climbing/peak/routes.htm

I walked the Pyg track up and the miners track down. both have some steep bits quite steepish bits which should be no fun in snow with a bike on your back
