The least the first one could do was pull it off. muppet. Now the second one is how to do it.

The first vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1YlFQVTBuI - shot in 2002 is legendary. The story is that he hit it for the first time on that jump, as it was so exposed he couldn't do any practice. Also consider that it as 2002 so technique, knowledge about building landings, and kit in those days, was a mile away from what we have now. I think it was probably a taller gap too. Info here

The second video is essentially a tribute to what Dave did, but 12 years later. It took 6 months for EnchoRage to plan and they had multiple test runs.

Incidentally Dave Watson founded Sombrio. Im full of useless facts aren't I!

Respect to both but for me the old school maverick attempt, is the one I have the most admiration for. Any thoughts on how we replicate this on the Epping High Road are welcome ;)

See it come through Roxwell in Chelmsford, near me. Was as close as could be and could have pushed em off on the bend I was standing on..

The amount of vehicles in the whole race is phenomenal..

Waited for the race and they where gone in seconds... still good to actually see the race and all the atmosphere

That's where me and Rapidcamera watched it from. Went on to follow the route down to the Olympic park. Amazing atmosphere. Should have put my off-road tyres on for a sneaky trail session at Epping.

Also good to see the school kids in the Chelmsford area had the day off and were making the most of the closed roads.
