Is this a really good price ? It's got a scratch on the stantions and a ding in the rear wheel or am I getting like a kid in a candy store ?
If I was to get a new one I would have to switch to sram and fork upgrade would be on the cards. But I could ride the bike as is and spend money where it's needed
Wife's warming to the idea :)

Not enough wiggle room :( best offer was £1460 with me paying fees and postage and a box fresh one is £1899.
It had a dinged wheel cable rub and scratched stantion was I unrealistic to expect more than £500 notes off ?

For the price difference of £500, me personaly, I would buy new. Dinged wheel, cable rub and scratched stantion are all small things but there will be wear and tear on the rest of the componments as well to think about that you would have to replace sooner than if the bike is new. £1899 for a new, good spec bike sounds good to me.

Thanks Matt. Good to know I was not too hard and exactly my thinking for £500 I can get a warranty and new bike smell :) but on that I have to wait until May/June when my student fees are cleared :)

^ she argued it is top spec for the money which it is but they don't start at spesh or Santa Cruz prices so resale is proportionate my biggest prob with new is this year they have gone shimano so I have to pay £140 ish to put sram running gear on :)

Why do you need to put Sram on? granted, I prefer Sram to Shimano, but in terms of performance, there is nothing in it.

If it's because it's whaty you are used too, thats a lot of money to change something, when you would get used to it within 2-3 rides....and you could use that money to upgrade something more worthwhile, and more likely to change the way it rides (think bar, stem, seat, tyres).

It's just what I'm used too when I changed to sram 10 years ago it was just so much crisper and on the demo bike at Cannock I had a nightmare if I went x9 I would recoup some if not all the money selling off the txt set up on fleabay
