Frame is about 2kg, think my 456 is about 2.5kg, wheels 1.45kg.... think that's where most of the weight saving is.
From a quick ride last night I'm surprised at how different it is to the 456.... not sure how much of that is down to the fork and how much the frame.

You're welcome to have a go any time Matt

Steel 456 or carbon? i found the carbon one very stiff?
the acceleration and the stiffness of the wheels are amazing, what hubs did you go for? i have the Novatec's and would recommend all day long.

I've got a steel 456.... sort of why I'm surprised at the difference. Mind you 26" vs 27.5" too so probably more of the whole package rather than one specific thing making the difference.

Novatec hubs for me too

Next one to keep me busy :) Bit of a bargain from STW classifieds. Just ordered 10sp rear mech, cassette etc, rest of the bits will come off my Hardrock :D

I wasn't looking for one of these specifically, just had an eye open for an 'interesting' XC frame when this popped up. They get good reviews and for the cost I wasn't going to give it too much thought ;)

The sizing / profiling of the tubes has obviously had a lot of thought and the build quality isn't bad considering it's cost new. Paint / lacquer is a bit on the thick side and obviously chips fairly easily.

Nice frame really :D

Finished for now ;)

It may / may not need:

Longer stem
Different bars
Longer seat post ( think it'll be ok but right on the minimum insert line )
New BB bearings ( fine now after clean up and grease )
Fork service ( think it's sorted but will find out if problem recurs )
Fit new tires ( ordered a Racing Ralph & Thunder Burt )
Front shifter ( existing one works but previous owner butchered it with a hacksaw to remove the window )
