Put this bike together for my youngest. Didn't want to spend 750 quid on an Islabike.

Bought 14" carbon frame from China. Also bought the forks but then added all other parts (mostly XT) from older bikes or stuff in the shed.

That looks very cool. My Daughter is on a 14" Kona, this would be a very nice upgrade. :high5:

Really pleased with it!

I got a Chinese carbon 29er frame a few months ago and so far it's been excellent.

Is it expensive too build a bike compared too buying one?

Depends, if the spec of the bike you are buying is exactly as you want as replacing parts can be expensive. On my old Commencal I bought it for £2100, by the end of 2 years I had added around £1500 of bits (some upgrades, others wear and tear upgrades). I would always built if I could, or buy the full bike and sell parts brand new if I had a buyer before ordering the bike.

If you buy something like a canyon where it is incredibly well specced for the price then there's no point building, if you want something specific or you already have a Base of equipment then build.
I personally like to build and have only ever bought one bike as a complete unit. Its a third of the hobby to me, just like riding and editing

My last 3 bikes have all been built and I love it. I look at bikes off the peg now and I am just thinking x, y and z components need replacing/updating.

Yep a 5 Spot in small....for the miniature ;)

Seatpost tube is 270mm tall but the top of the seatpost tube to the centre line of the BB is 380mm.
