I see that Halfords are buying Bpardman Bikes with Chris staying on as chief designer. Hope this won't be a downwards spiral for the brand as they make some decent bikes. Going to take a bit more than this for Halfords to shake off some of its bad rep. I wonder what will happen the the higher end bikes that some independent shops sold.

It will probably go the same way as Karrimor. They used to do decent kit until they got heavily involved with Sports Direct.

Was tempted to pick up a Boardman Comp MTB the other weekend in the sale, but it is a terrible experience dealing with the staff.

The bikes are good and offer a lot of bike for not a lot of ££££ but as said the Halfrauds lot are the let down in the setup.

Hello all, well this just shows what the "I know what I'm doing" Halfords bike-hut guys are more than willing to let pass there pre-take-away checks huh. I'm very new to all this MTB lark and picked up a Boardman Team FS on the ride-to-work at it works out half price! Now....due to a small 16inch frame it was ordered for me. When I ordered it, I said I wanted to build it myself and to leave it in the box, oh dear.....the next 5 mintues spent being told that I will never be able to build it to there "level" as there bike mack is a blah-blah this and blah-blah that! So...."build it" I said in the end, now when I picked it up the right-hand grip was just spinning lose, the stem not tight, handle bar - headset way-over tightened (5Nm....more like 15!) the rear brake could not be used due to over filling. Pedal left side lose, forks little to no air / rear shock no air! Front de-railer not set up at all and wouldn't change gear, and that was how they wanted me to take it from the shop! I was then given a load of waffle when I pointed these things out, I said don't worry and that I would sort it out as I just found it to funny....but noooo....they wanted to as I'm not able, I was told I'm not able-to by the guy! Not able huh....It was as this point I said all nicely to the know-it-all twat that I own my own motorcycle Race-Team and build racebikes from scratch in my workshop and I just might be "able-to" sort it! I hate saying things like that and never normally would do, but they needed taking down a peg-or-two! They let me take the bike without any probs after that.....funny old world huh ;-) Moral is......get some training Halfords, in-house training just isn't working for you! Great bike I must say, love it!

A mate of mine is just buying the same bike, luckily though he convinced them he wants it boxed..!!

They truly are a joke, staff have no idea ,and all they seem to do is assemble dangerous bikes..!!

Note... Assemble not build..lol
