Not had a chance to use my new full face.
Not had a FS in a few years is Aston hill any good for me to have a spin on the enduro. I'm looking to build confidence at pointing down the hill but not massive gaps.
Any ideas or other novices who fancy a trip give me a shout :)

Aston is a great place, depends on what sort of stuff you want to ride. Surface to air is steep, smooth surface and fast with table top jumps and medium ish drops on.
Black run is steep in places and very rooty with a few smallish drops in.
423/root canal is rooty and off camber stuff with a slippery chalk/flint/clay finishing section that is very slippy in the wet.
Red downhill/start of xc run is a good mellow mix, steepish in places with some roots, would be a good ride round to get to know the place.

Aston rides well in the wet, but be prepared to slip and slide on the rooty and chalky sections!!

Sounds years away from drops etc just need a day of longish runs to find the edge if you know what I mean. Possibly all red runs then :)

A day at chicksands?
all pretty easy stuff on the dual and 4x but jumps and drops there if you feel like your progressing.

I would also recommend chicksands if you are a bit of a newbie to going fast down a hill

How big are drops at Chicksands, to advanced for a beginner? Also do you need a full face there for smaller bits?

Spence, you'll be fine, all little rollers on the dual and 4x, only drops and jumps are in specific sections if you feel comfortable enough to try.

Chicksands is mostly smooth and rollable (not to metion soft/sandyish ground), it does have some big stuff but easily avoidable. Its far 'safer' and less hazradous that Aston Hill and especially surface to air.

People would tend to have a full face there for everything, execept the pisspot/Dirt Jumpers.
