From reading the forum, I can see there are regular organised rides (such as the Epping ride yesterday). What helmet is needed for such a ride? Are you all wearing full face or other types? |

OK thanks. Was thinking of getting one of these http://www.pinkbike.com/news/bell-intro ... -2014.html to cover all occaisions, but can't find a review of it being tested by any bike mags. |

The Bell is a good choice... but there are many out there. Best thing to do is get down to your local bike shop and try a few on. As an example 661 lids don't seem to fit me but Urge do. |

The bell super a brilliant helmet but a bit OTT for Epping (more designed for wales/endure riding, most trail lids (lower back of lid for extra protection, less venation holes for strength/light weight) will do. I've got an Urge Endur-O-Matic which I can fully recommend...but say stumpy say, best going to a couple of shops to try them on |

Ignore reviews (sort of) the FIT is much more important, as others say try your local shop. Tried loads that got good reviews but none fit. I would say Uvex Quatro as I've got one and its got lots of adjustment and fits my head shape... |

OK thanks. i was looking online at the Urge Endur-O-Matic. Any local shops you would recommend in Chelmsford / Reyleigh / Southend areas that carry these brands? |

I tried a Bell Super on (not with the full race part) 2013 model i think ! the most comfortable lid I've ever tried! Their on sale on CRC at the mo! Also had an Endur-o-matic, cracking lid & well priced! |

I have just been to Cycle Surgery in the City, Tried on a Fox MTB helmet. Also a POC. I think the helmet I already have is OK. I have a Specialised Tactic II. Initially I thought it was a road helmet, the others you have mentioned, when viewed on-line, appear to have more coverage at the rear of the head, but it seems the Tactic II has the same coverage. I also tried on a Fox full face, which was very nice, but maybe overkill for a weekly jaunt. Maybe more suitable for BPW and similar places? |

I'm another one for the urge range , go to Chelmer cycles, in Chelmsford and speak to nick. They have a good stock of Urge lids. |
