Apart from the weight, what advantages are there for Carbon frames?

Stronger and they make your wallet lighter to carry as well.

Depends on what your using it for?
XC frames for light fast bikes, DH frames for ultra strong frame but most importantly bragging rights.

Can save a fair bit of weight - around 1kg on a beefy enduro frame. Can be built both stiff and forgiving - ie directional stiffness / flex. Those 2 factors are pretty big when building a bike frame. Has a bit of a dampening effect on vibrations.

oh yea and stronger as scarper said - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xreZdUBqpJs

I suggest you got to avoid Trek carbon frames

I did not actually see the accident on the day as it must have been in the afternoon but pretty worrying though.

The pics of the Trek frame were all over the HMTB Club page on facebook - looked to me like the saddle was too high for the post length - good break though...

I know it's very boring but would not be cheaper to lose body weight! Would only buy a carbon frame for look not the how light.
How much faster would get up a hill on a carbon?
