Been watching blue dots race this afternoon. Javi and Alan Goldsmith ( the race organizer ) are neck and neck, within a mile of each other after 4 1/2 days riding. This is the bit they are riding through right now....  I'm sitting in my office wearing shorts and a T shirt.... this is the weather up there....

The leader, Tom Rowntree, is about 80 miles ahead of 2nd place who is about 40 miles ahead of a group of about 8 riders all within 10 miles of each other. Javi was leading that group, although Alan was expected to pass him. Problem is Javi SPOT tracker hasn't updated his position for about 3hrs... so he could still be in third..... or 10th  The leader should finish in the next hour or two..... 560 miles in 4 1/2 days

I take my skid lid off to them all   Feel sorry for Josh Ibbett race leader for so long only to have mechanical failure .Been watching at every opportunity at work, some strange comments from my work colleges. |

So big changes overnight with Fraser MacBeath riding through the night to take third place and put 30 miles on the main group Twitter wrote: Highland Trail @HT_550 ยท 20m 20 minutes ago So a third place rider who's not slept in several hundred kilometre, and a second place rider carrying an injury. Interesting day ahead. Javi is currently showing 8th in a group of 5 riders all within about 4 miles of each other.

Javi is on the move after the overnight stop...... 45 miles to go so should finish sometime this afternoon. He's looking pretty secure for a top 10 finish which in this race where finishing at all ( more than half of the starters have dropped out ) is an amazing achievement
