Love them or hate them, plus size wheel bikes are here. Interesting video in to the market thoughts

Hmm, not sold on 27.5+ or 29+ tbh - I just don't see the point - I guess riding one in it's ideal setting might help but right now I'll pass thanks!

What I am interested in is a standard 26" fat bike - fun in the mud all day long!!!

The biggest thing that i found interesting was the talk of boost hubs and the strength and shorter stays that they offer (but saying that I have never had any problems with my current setup of bikes). The plus size tyres on the bikes i don't find interesting at all and have to agree with you with the regular phat bikes

Interesting article - more options are good but you do get the feeling that the bike industry has been taking the piss recently.

ie sacking off 20mm axles on trail forks which are stiff and relatively light to replace them with 15mm which aren't much lighter but no way as stiff... then SRAM comes up with Torque Caps to increase the stiffness of 15mm hubs

FFS! what bell ends

The video was good I guess but it simply drives home the idea that you should ride what you have until it (a) breaks or (b) no longer does the job you want it to do.

I like the idea of the shorter stays and wider rear axles - I even like the idea of the grip offered by wider / faster rolling tyres... but lets face it most of aren't exceeding the capabilities of what we have right now so unless you have the cash sitting there and a boner for a + size bike (VWSurfbum) then it doesn't really make any difference!

I've a AM Hardtail that I love (it's so playful), my Bronson that just does whatever I want it to and from what I can see whatever I'll ever want it to. What I'm missing is 'Miss Piggy', a fatbike... and for that I want a proper 4" wide tyre, NO SUSPENSION, 1x10(11) set-up and a dropper. I want to be happy to get it knee deep in mud or sand or shit or whatever... I don't want it to be a 'another' bike that I have to care about much more that showing it a bucket of water every now and then and lub as needed... So I'll be looking for a mashed up On-One Fatty then lolol

Ah, forgot to say - also wouldn't say no to a CX bike... but that kind of talk gets you kicked out of here - right?

you can still easily control the shock and fork simultaneously with Scott’s 3-position TwinLoc lever. New for 2016, Scott has redesigned the lever to sit below the bar, to make use of the space often vacated by the front shifter when a 1x drivetrain is installed.

Tell me whats not to like!

Just don't look right with those big tyres - as I say I think it's a case of let me loose on one and I might not want to give it back...

It still looks to me like a compromise - a bastard Frankensteins monster of a bike, like they listened to a kid;

You want full sus, wider axles, shit loads of controls, fatter tyres...

Meh, I'll pass ;)

My thoughts are always "if its that good why ain't the racers using it" (though this can lead to a load more questions and arguments (and sometime what the pros use isn't suited to the average joe). it does feel that manufacturers are constantly trying to reinvent the wheel at time but then as consumers we always expect something new.

The video was interesting because it was saying that it's not for the racers, it's purely for fun /trail riding. Basically average Joe.

Reading between the lines.... Plus isnt designed for fast people to go faster - its more for those getting into the sport to take on tougher terrain with a bit more ease... + for adventure biking

That scott does look rad though!

I guess its like surfing where you might own a bunch of short boards for ripping and a long for cruising.

OK, now on dodgy ground here as am by no means an expert (but I got skills lol). Almost want to say that's a bad thing? But then I'll get pelted by all the 26" riders...

I guess it's a fun thing as Ian says - and yep, the Scott does look the dogs...

As much as i think its a lovely bike and ticks most of the boxes i would like from a bike, how can they justify this sort of price tag?
£6099

^^^^ did it have the word 'ENDURO' anywhere in the brief or marketing, as that adds about 2.5k - 3K to the price
