Post subject:  Where I can buy a good second hand road bike in London?

Hello to everyone,

I'm new to the forum and London too. I found it a couple of weeks ago, after moving here from Italy. I've never possessed a (proper) mountain bike but I'm fully interested on buy an enduro bike within the end of the year. I need to save money in order to do it.
By the way, due to the fact that here the transports are extremely expensive and I live really close to my actual company I was thinking on buy a decent second hand road bike.

I know that this is probably not the best place for asking a similar question, but do you know where I can looking for?
I have to exclude big shops like Evans because they sell only new stuffs. I live in Ladbroke Grove now, but it's not a problem to travel by the bus/underground to the shop. I only need that it is at a reasonable distance for return back home with my new bike :D

I never bought before a road bike, so I'm quite a newbie. I was looking for something similar to a Specialized Allez Compact of 2010/2011 year. I've seen some for less than £300 on Gumtree but the size of the frame are too small for my height. I'm 186cm, so I have to look for a 58cm size.
I'm also opened to similar bike in the same price range, being my first road bike I'm only interested on having something comfortable both for short and long travel (for going to work and some longer travel for pleasure when I'm off) and not too havy (not over 11kg) because I want to carry it on my room when I come back home.

I want to thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
I hope to ride with you in some single track in a short time!

Gianluca

Thank you so much for your advice!
I've checked into eBay and found a couple of bikes that could be interesting. Unfortunately they are not so close to London (4h by train) but I'll continue to follow those items.
At least I can collect and carry it home by train. I'm going to check the price of train tickets.

Try your ocal newspaper or maybe you can put an advert up at your local bike shop. I picked up my charge plug on a local forum for 200 quid which is perfect for the work cycle and round town. You could always check out * admin edit

I don't want to buy a stolen bike. It's not fair in respect of the previous holder and it stimulate thieves to continue in their bad behaviour.
I'm following some items on eBay, it seems to be the right place for this type of transactions. Thank you for your advices guys, I hope to meet you in real life one day.

The bike looks great, but unfortunately out of my budget. I'm following some Specialized Allez on eBay.
I want to same the rest of the money for an enduro or all mountain bike. Need to start riding something as soon as possible. All the videos in PinkBike, onlyMTB, VitalMTB, etc make me hungry

Theres a bike shop/workshop on leather lane market, by chancery lane tube. its a bit of hang out for couriers and always has a lot of bikes at pretty good prices. Just go tell them your budget and you should get soming to fit that runs well.

After two months but.. I've bought a BTwin Triban 3 at Decathlon this morning.
All in all is a decent bike, absolutely a bargain at that price. £300 and 10.2kg. I've ridden from Canary Water to Ladbroke Grove without much effort. Now I have to buy an appropriate jacket and I'll be fine for the rest of the winter.
Thank you very much guy for your tips!

I hope to ride some trials with you soon,
Gianluca

As the subject here is road bike..... I also ride a road bike and most of the times by myself around Epping and Essex country lane. If anyone in the area keen to team up for some rides would be great.
