There was some feedback that a ride calendar showing all the rides going on would be useful. Sometimes scanning the forums to pick out a ride can result is some serious eye and brain strain!

Its always looked like getting it to work would be a bit of a nightmare, but I think I have a cracked it using a multi line regex :geek: for those who are interested.

There is now a ride calendar icon on the top right of the forum... click that and it will launch an overlay with all the rides going on. It works by looking at the ride post title and making a good stab as to the date its thinks has been posted.

Key features are

- automatically picks up posts and turns them into calender entries
- shows last couple of weeks (its nice to see what's happened) and future 4 weeks
- today is highlighted in red
- split to show weekend
- xc , away days / events and DH rides are split out and colour coded
- The calendar gets updated from the forum every 15 mins so it may not appear there as soon as you post.
- its work in progress so bugs are expected
- its custom for this site so tapatalk etc wont know about it but you can bookmark it on a mobile http://www.essexhertsmtb.co.uk/calendar.php

As mentioned in the sticky on the forum...

Ride tomorrow
Ride Saturday
Rice On Sunday

...will be hard to pick up as they are relative

Danbury 24th Sunday September - jumps n stuff
Danbury 24 Sun September - jumps n stuff
Danbury 24 September - jumps n stuff
Danbury 24.09.2012 - jumps n stuff
Danbury 24/09/12 - jumps n stuff
Danbury 24/09- jumps n stuff
Danbury 9/9- jumps n stuff

... and variations like that will get picked up. It will even have a good stab if you don't mention the month but it helps if you do.

Feedback welcome especially if it starts to misbehave. :high5:

Well done for mastering the regex! Might want to edit your post title though as not many will be interested in a 'Rice Calendar'! :D

Cheers - Good call - I also had everything named calender earlier which resulted in a hand to forehead moment.

Just a thought. Could you paginate it so that rides posted up in future months or previously can be viewed? For example, if someone posted an away day for October.
