mate this is my 3rd opinion, this time from a private consultant in london. he said the same as the 2 other NHS doctors ive seen. all 3 cant be wrong and im not risking screwing my back up any more and not being able to do things, especially with the kids.
decision has been made, im gutted but its not the end of the world.

Ah! what a shame!.

Time to get a new form of transport, we will give you a push at danbury/herts ;)

Sorry to hear your news. I gave up rugby after medical advice at 21 after damaging ankle ligaments, so i sort of know how you feel.

Chin up, your kids are more important than a bike ride!

from a quick search, recumbent bikes are the way to go ;)

Sorry to hear that fella :( , but all may not be lost, this ^ was the first thing I thought too. I've had a couple of KMX Karts & loved it, its like pedaling a lazy boy :), I've tried a two wheeler as well but couldn't ride it, would take some practice & I only had a few mins in it, don't think it would take more than a day to get it down though. I did a double century on the KMX towing a Bob trailer ( Santa Pod to Scarborough ), no pain at all anywhere except a bit of a sore ass which didn't set in untill I'd been going for 15 hours :) . Thats what I got it for, long distance on a normal bike does my back in too, a light seconds worth of pedaling in 22 years will do that though :). KMX are a bit harsh off road as they're not suspended ( and don't fit on single track anyway ) but they're quite cheap & very cheap second hand on ebay, there's plenty of other manufactures that make suspended ones but they get a bit pricy. Well worth considering I think, worth a test ride at least.
