Hi I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to parts, I have been looking at forks and found these 2011 Recon Gold RL - 100mm - Q/R Axle - Turnkey Lockout I have a Claud Butler frame 22" Hardtail which has Suntour forks on and looking to upgrade, does anyone know If these forks are good for the price (seen them at £200 but claim they used to be over £300) Or If they will fit my bike and If not, any other forks for that money that you could recommend Thanks in advance for any help Richard |

I don't know the Suntour forks, but if you wanna be sure they will fit. Check the steerer length and diameter are the same as yours and you should be fine. Having said that, steerer length is very rarely an issue on new forks. I may have a set of Fox Floats for Sale in the very near future? 120mm |

Probably didn't word that properly It was the 2011 Recon Gold RL - 100mm - Q/R Axle - Turnkey Lockout was looking to buy (Basic Suntour on my bike already) I would be, but looking for black, dont suppose they are black? |

Fox all the way. The new 2012 stuff all have Kashima coating and are uber plush. I have the Van 36 RC2 FIT in 180mm guise but would go for the Fox 32 Float 120/140mm. Expensive but quality. The Floats are white but the Talas and Vans are black with cool decals |

They would be nice, but my budget is pretty much £200 I thought Rockshox were good too? |

Rockshox are good and the ones you listed are probably the best your going to get in your budget, shop around because there's a lot of good deals out there! make sure there the air versions, alloy sanctions(gold in colour) and if you can get the remote lock out all the better. |

Make sure you buy the correct steerer tube size, and axle size. |

As long as there inch and 1/8th with an uncut steerer (which being new they should be) and straight forward QR drop outs you'll be fine. |

The newer 'zocchis are cool. Probably better than the Rock Shox. They are legendary for being plush. Marzocchis between 2004-2008 are a little ropey as they were skint so no much R&D was going on |

Just going by weight difference the rockshoxs, but I have always lived my zocchis when ever I have had them. |

Aren't Marzocchi's now manufactured by Suntour? I know the OE stuff is but all production is now with them. Still Suntour seem to have gone from only doing really crappy forks on Apollo's (like RST) and the like to getting good reviews on the mid range. I still run an old '03 MX Comp and apart from needing an oil change and new bushings it does ok, if a little heavy. |
