Merlin Cycles do this SLX chainset for £89.95 too including delivery. Just debating whether to get one myself as I can seem to get the right width ES51 BB for my old Deore chainset (tried 113 and 118mm but the chain line is still not right and the 121mm I did have pushed it out too far).

I definitely would have bought one by now!!! haha

Oh also do i need any special tools to install the new crankset?

the raceface one just used allen bolts so was simple.

You'll need a Hollowtech II spanner and crank bolt tool plus an allen key (5mm I think). BBT-9 from Park should be the right one or the 2 separate tools from Shimano.

Glad I haven't bought yet. Just got an email through. Extra 10% off until 9th Oct at Merlin Cycles using code EXTRA10 for orders over £50 for VIP members, which puts the SLX chainset at £81.

I've ordered the Icetoolz one from merlin, it's 2 in 1 and just requires and allen key. Your welcome to borrow it after I've fitted mine if you want.

Ahh that a better price!! I wasn't sure about the Park tool. i really didn't want to spend £17+. That icetoolz one looks just the ticket. I may just get one. definitely worth having in your tool box.

Thank you for the offer though. Where are you based? Are you biking on Sunday at all? Thorndon?

I'm in Rayne, Braintree. May be at Thorndon, depends whether I get permission from the other half and if the new chainset sorts my chain line problem!

Ok, so got my cranks on. went for a ride today but was creaking really bad. so took off the crank & BB, re greased it all, stuck it back on, went out again and still really bad.

Baffled, i started looking around the bike for answers, and found that the rear QR was slightly loose. tightened it up and its now as good as gold. other than this, really happy with how it performs.

here is a few pics, with a few of my own touches...

Thanks pal. I have heard quite a few mixed reviews of the frame design. it seems its a bit of a love hate. i just think it looks the nuts.
