Hello,
Ride the Flitch regularly as I'm in Rayne. Jamie (chatman on here) also organises a ride every now and then. Could organise something soon. Not sure if I can do this weekend though. 32 miles there and back. Good for the distance but not a lot else (bit boring!).

Bacon stop near the far end (not always open) and at Rayne station cafe of course so you can reward yourself.

Welcome crankit, the flitch can be spilt into two segments, the Braintree section to Great Dunmow then then onto stansted.. Still about 9 miles each part, it's a good leg stretch but featureless.

You could cycle into Knotley park and play going around that and up the hill to the dinosaur thing...

Pfff everyone knows that a Pterodactyl was not a dinosaur. The Notley 'thing' is meant to be a kestrel apparently. The original one got stolen! Anyway, perhaps another ride is due soonish?

Enjoy it crankit, it's a good place to start of on and get pedal practice.

Have to see if we can organise another newbie run out along here at some time.

Is there parking during the week?

Yes at Braintree station, but it's more expensive during the week, due to commuters. On Sunday's it's 50p. If you skip the first 2 miles and park at Rayne station then parking is free. Parking at the discovery centre cost £4 or so. Nearest street in Braintree I can think of that you park in for free with no restrictions is probably East Street.
