Hey, Kev here. Trying to get back into cycling too, work in Colchester at the moment and looking further a field to find some better riding that I've been able to find locally so was planing a visit to Danbury this weekend - Sat 23rd.

I see there's a race on Sun eve, is that more a XC affair? It's not likely to affect riding on the sat is it, with setting up etc?

Anyone else likely to be around on the Sat in case I'm struggling to find my way around? :)

G'day and welcolme on board.
The Race (a XC affair) is not anywhere near the usual Danbury hotspots (shame really i think that would make some awesome racing)

Hi KevC

I am also based in colchester but dont get out much. Have you managed to find the jumps and drops based at a place which goes under various names such as halstead woods / iron latch lane / eight ash green ?

If you search bikeradar for colchester you will find a few chats on there.

Hope to see you around for a ride soon
Joel

Nah i'd only came across a few decrepit looking jumps in friday woods and that was the result of my Google search. I shall investigate the ones you talk of though cheers :)

I went up to the place you mentioned today gladdice, don't know how long its been since you were there but it's looking fairly good atm. There's a few big jumps and drops and one run down the hill with several berms and a couple of jumps. There were a couple of guys up there today building another run which looks like it would be good fun too, hand full of doubles into a couple of berms.

Hey guys, another colchester based rider here, my usual route takes me through the woods at iron latch lane, saw the guys building down there and stopped for a chat. Nice guys, they've got some good plans but have a lot of work to do.... I'm sure would appreciate a bit of help at some point!

On a less good note, that bit of wood has been sold for development, hopefully nothing will happen for a fair few years though:
