Hi all, I'm participating at the first round of the Scott matb marathon series, 11th and 12th April in Builth Wells. I've registered also for the night race on Saturday (40km) and the longest distance (75km) on Sunday. I won't do any taper for this race though, as it's going to be part of preparation for HTR. Very well organized, good vibe, many families with friends at the free campsite, showers, bike wash, pasta party... I did 2 rounds last year and really enjoyed. Courses were as hard as you wanted to, mixing all natural trails, road, double track, moorland... Weather helped a lot I reckon. Anyone going? http://www.mtb-marathon.co.uk/events/11 ... wales.html |

Saturday evening fast course. Only really dark after 1 hour. Sunday marathon very windy. Horrible up there in the hills. Course was not rocky, that's probably in a different round. Downhills super fast. I was fighting cramps for the last 2h 1/2. I didn't drink much really. Event packed. More than 700 registered. |

Monday riding Blade in Afan. Easier uphill than the previous trip where I had to hire one of the Marin bikes from Afan forest centre. Downhills fine, but with care I cleared everything. Went over the bars in slow motion at the very end of the last rocky downhill of Blade. |
