Just giving you guys a follow up, I swapped the hoses to the new levers, topped them up with oil, then pumped a bit more of oil through the nipple until the reservoir was free of air, and that was it. They are working great!

Glad you like them, personally I don't think there's much better on the market, especially for the price!

I didn't order mine online i went to stanleybridge and got them.
they fitted them allowing me to borrow a shop set while mine were coming in
then after i had used the final set for a while they trimmed up all the cables to the lengths i wanted.

excellent service

Excellent..

I'm looking forward to being able to confidently one-finger brake when I fit these. It's becoming more and more important for me to be able to do that these days ;)

How much did they cost in the shop?

My XC bike got SLX/XT thought about swap to my new bike but the hoses are shorter.... Dont know if it's worth to change the hoses and swap the brakes or get new ones at some point.

I paid £199 for the XT brakes in black.

i am not sure of the prices on the SLX models

either way worth it for the service!

Thanks. It's more expensive than online of course but good to have everything sorted for you.

Given that the levers are the right way round and the trimming was done for free then it is worth while

most shops charge £15 a brake to mod/bleed hydro brakes.

plus he helps me out when i need silly little jobs doing like knocking head set cups out or most recently getting my BB shell re-threaded and faced.

I did my own XT brakes for £140 and saved £59 then. Mind you at that point I didn't have a local bike shop I could trust. You could get them for £170 from CRC though http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=67208 and choose your setup, would still have to trim the hoses though.
Ev you'll love those brakes, 1 finger braking is great, especially in places like Wales on long descents.

That's why I need them.. Want to do lots of 'proper' trails riding this year and also plenty of jumps/Chicksands/Danbury type stuff :)
