Im building up a bike at the mo (seemed like a good idea at the time!) and need some advice on what brakes to consider. I've got a Santa Cruz Bullit with Fox 36 Van R forks with 160mm travel on Nukeproof Generator wheels. Preferably looking for a brake set deal as watching the money, prob go to £200. Putting a fairly big order in with Chain Reaction tonight. Will mostly be riding locally, Surrey Hills and the odd trip to Wales. Would be really grateful of some advice, thanks! |

£200 is a good budget for brakes, slx have been getting great reviews http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=83173 I have a set of these formula oro's which i cant say a bad thing about although i used the bigger discs i already had as 160mm is a bit on the small side http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=53568 and these are a good bargain but crc not got the rear in stock at that price http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=67757 |

I was going to suggest Elixir 5s too, I had some on my last build and couldn't fault them |

Another for XT's here, they've been hassle free for 18 months. |

Best Ive had is Shimano Saint..but maybe as bit OTT for general use, as there is new 2013 range out now, you maybe able to get older ones cheapish. I prefer look of older ones, more chunky, there is also the cheaper Zee range. Andy |
