Fancied going single ring so just ordered a new chain guide. It's a BB mount one, which I've never fitted before (current one is ISCG). Do I need any special tools, such as a BB tool? |

If external bb then yes you need the tool to unscrew the bb cup and put the chainguide mount in behind it (with a spacer or two removed). I have on eyou are welcome to borrow but you can get socket set one from superstar for little money. |

BB is a "Truvativ Howitzer Team, outboard bearing, 51mm chainline, 73mm shell", chain guide is the E13 SRS+ Never noticed any spacers, but then never really had reason to study it that much. Thanks, will look at the Superstar tools, always handy to have in the toolbox. I've got a crank extractor. |

If its external cups you shouldn't need the extra tool. |

So if its one of these you will just need one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BOTTOM-BRACKET-BB ... 2308261879 or this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=42809 to replace the spacer with the guide I think the cranks will come off with an 8mm allen key? |

trax wrote: Which tool Noel, the BB one? Just the BB tool Jon posted and the 8mm Allen thats it Bradley your guide would take the place of a spacer. Unless yours is bolted on. |

Some (most) mountain bike bbs are 68mm and you space them out to 73 - so usually there are a couple of spacers inside the bb cups DH ones are wider still |

I had the same problem with the links, all you have to do is tap and hold the link until it is all highlighted, then it will fully load |
