I've been running a 2.4exo minion dhr II on the rear and a 2.5 swampthing on front for the last month. The grip is unbelievably good in the mud going down but I was struggling on the uphill and flat sections in afan last weekend. I think single ply minion or high roller 2 is what I'd go for for xc/am

Single ply minnios is what ive been using everywhere, and they did the job well, very well, very rarely slipped on anything and not too heavy, but im ready to try something a bit faster rolling and with slightly less grip, high rollers are looking good so far but may try something a bit different as i have the butchers to use on the heavy stuff when i need grip and strength.

I run the minion 2.3 dh supertacy 42a compounds on the AM bike with the front and rear specific and find the only time it is slow is on long road sections but I tolerate that for the great grip ( and no flats) the rest of he time.

Anyone have suggestions for a hard wearing summer tyre? checked out the schwalbe tabletops - might be lacking a bit of cornering grunt for us less stable riders, but it's along the right lines for road/xc/summer trail riding...any other suggestions?

might just look at a trustworthy brand and pick from a lineup...

I'm thinking of selling my 29er commuter and riding my MTB the whole time - jumping around between sizes throws me a little.

Hard compound high rollers have always been kind to me

I often hear people say this and that about tyre combinations and they may well be right, I have only used 60a high rollers and not once have I ever thought to myself "I need to change my tires"

Sent using the force...

Agreed, I use ADvantage 2.1 60a's and the wear really well.

not even when riding on road?

rode my zesty to work for the first time the other day on a Minion DHF/R combo - not a hell of a lot of fun compared to my commuter. but I guess you're right...might just have to pedal harder...and it's still better than being crammed onto public transport, even if I'm deemed a "hummer".

Hummer
A cyclist that is incredibly serious about off-road riding on the weekends and decides it’s a great idea to commute on his dual suspension downhill bike with huge tyres. You can quickly identify a “hummer” by the sound of them humming along the road as their knobbie tires touch the ground.

Hi all,
I have rubber queen 2.4 on my bikes and I use for work trail anywhere .
They dont seem to slow me down too much on the roads.
Dont get punchiures either .Fingers crossed I probably will now.
Looking to get a couple of tyres for my hard rock which is upside down at the moment. Might get the 2.2 RQ 14.99pounds . The 2.4 are the same price.
Question what is the difference with the chilli tyres.
Bob

I have Conti 2.2 Rubber Queens ust + bc and they started leaking sealant from the sidewalls after 13 months. Don't know about the standard ones but i wont get a second set of the ust version again
The stock big betty's on the voltage have been absolutely brilliant in comparison.
