Thanks for all the good tips. I did not have enough time to source the bag and tube foam for this trip so the bike will travel without one and hopefully will arrive as one piece surviving 2000 miles in a lorry

Bit late but you can hire hard\soft bike bags, I'v seen bike shop at Billericay |

Ive got a spare one if anyone wants it, its nothing fancy, just a big black soft bag. |
