I have a frame that will not take the standard 30.9 or 31.6 suspension/dropper post so I need to look what's available in 27.2 size. I'm thinking to get the Hilo but according to various reviews its not very reliable. Any opinions?
So far got these to consider:

TMARS(£79) - no warranty apparently : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261187759102? ... 1438.l2649

ICE Lift v8 (£90-£120) - similar to tmars and apparently the older model.Cheaper on ebay but no warranty.

Gravity Dropper (£153-£202): various options and lots of spare parts available.

X-fusion Hilo (£140) : on offer at wiggle currently : http://www.wiggle.co.uk/x-fusion-hilo-r ... seat-post/

KS do them as well - in a couple of styles

The reason I've excluded them is because apparently there is no service centre/distributor for KS in UK anymore.
It might not be the case anymore though.

I run an ice v8 and whilst it's tricky to set up perfect it's ok, and when I thought I had an issue I emailed them direct and they just posted me replacement parts, to didn't need lol

I'm on the damn phone....

Gravity dropper classic.. No flappy cables when seat is down and had mine about 5 years. All I've ever had to do was take it apart once for a clean and add some thread lock on the collar. It'll put up with winter crud year in year out. Only downside is the aesthetics.. But it does what it's supposed to and hasn't let me down yet..

what kind of issue you had with it?

I found that if you did the seat post collar up too tight it prevented the post from moving up and down, right the cable was stretched, emailed them to moan and they sent me a whole new remote lever and cable, it was only when I pulled it apart and stripped it down I realised what was up so now have a spare!
I do clean the post and innards every now and then but not religiously.

Thanks Unityjon.

It looks like will be getting tmars which is upgraded version with some enhancements. I spoke to the seller which is uk based and they do offer 12months warranty and supply of spares if needed. I guess there is no much to go wrong.

Still quite like the hilo but there is no much reviews nor anyone on the forum that has one to provide some honest feedback.
Gravity dropper is probably the best in terms of quality but can't justify the cost.

Tmars ordered.

Some information to share from the guys selling it as someone might consider these posts too. I asked for the remote cable which seemed to be causing some issues and apparently it wasn't a standard type on the older design on these posts according to some forums.

"Total weight approx 585gr. Ref the inner cable, if you look carefully the reports about the cable relate to one of the older TMARS models that I did not stock or sell. The model I am selling has been completely redesigned by myself and the manufacturer earlier this year, I was in Taiwan most of jan/feb/march finalising the revised design and production. The older versions had the inner cable turning far too sharply causing rapid wear of the cable. The inner cable is a standard gear cable and easy to replace. "

Took 10min to set up. Only had to change the inner cable as the original was too thin.

If you are getting one make sure you change the cable, add more grease and most importantly put some thread-locker on the locking pin before start using it
