Post subject:  Which seat?

Hi all,

I recently purchased a charge spoon from wiggle at £9.99,the seat came through with damaged stitching so wiggle sent out a replacement!,what i've noticed with both seats is the creaking which is driving me mad!!!the seat is comfortable & light and looks good but i think the build quaitly isn't to clever i know you get what you pay for!have tried white grease,silcone,gt85 on the rails left over night, seems to have alot of flex in the seat!,looking at a fizik gobi mx as merlin cycles have them on offer!,alittle expensive i know but anyone had any dealings with them p.s my last seat was a sdg belair which was well built but alittle tough on long rides!any ideas peeps!

Mines fine and havn't noticed any noise, they are a hugely popular seat. Ive had seats in the past that creaked and a spray of WD40 keeps em quiet..for a few minutes anyway :)

Ive also no complaints about the quality its been on many rides and 3 or 4 trips to Alps and no damage despite a heavy awkward landing on Warlery the other day where the seatpost position moved but seat was fine.

I recently bought the Madison Flux which is essentially the same seat and it's great and silent :)

I use a gobi xm. Had sdg, had 2 Selle flights both creaked at the nose. The gobi is probably he most comfy saddle ive ever had and mine doesn't creak, try to get one with the fabric trim at the back cos it doesn't scuff up when you stick the bike upside down.

I think the key to a comfy squeak free saddle is set up :)
I was shown elbow on the nose middle finger should touch headset bolt.
Then tweak from there with full suss measure sag then put a level on it when you push saddle down. With HT just level saddle.

Nope...standard ones but it wasnt the seat at fault it was the superstar seatpost that moved but no biggie just straightened it and tightened it up.

This is where the charge creak's at the nose I can get the seat to creak by hand by flexing the nose!

If its any consolation they do seem to creak less in the winter. Seats are a very personal choice but I doubt you'll regret buying a gobi..

Get an SDG i-beam fit and forget
if you want to try one i have two spare I-beam Bel air saddles sitting about, you'll just need to source a seat post but they are cheap secondhand
