that sounds like laziness, take it to nick, get it serviced and then spend a tiny amount of time setting everything to the middle setting and test riding it

Life's too short there are more configurations than i care for....

Not much of an expert but there is certainly a different 'feel' between air and spring, most long travel (DH) bikes use springs and mid travel (Trial/XC) bikes use Air so you would of thought there is sound reasoning.

I agree about the lack of adjustments, Im really happy with my Fox Van and its simple settings, on my previous DHX, it was only really the spring strength and rebound I understood, all the extra piggyback chamber compression settings were rather confusing.

Having said that,Ive never really touched the Compression settin on my Marzocchi fork but think Ill look it that, especially after a crash I had at Warley that I dont really understand why it happened.

I'm reading and reading and reading and think i have the gist of it, i understand Low speed compression (LSC) and HSC (High speed compression) what they relate too and how controlling them *should* affect the ride but its just such a faff.

the only solution for this shock is to (as many people say) take it somewhere, set eveything to 0 pretty much, set the sag to a comfortable amount and choose a middle range PSI (between 72 and 200) and then start adjusting one setting at a time, try it, adjust it repeat until it feels best then reset the PSI and change the next setting

It will be a long boring job as there are so many settings.

plus there are some really good deals on less complicated shocks at the moment !! which is what lead to make the OP
