I have tried SRAM seemed to wear out quick changed for shimano hg, only chain that's actually failed and the pin to join them was always a ball ache. Then moved onto kmc sl they seem to look ok for the longest but stretch fairly early.. Now trying YBN s1010cr..
I keep my chain and drivetrain spotless and well lubed and ride twice a week that works out to about 40 mile.. Chain lasts max 6 month. So roughly getting 960miles to a chain..

What's your experience?

Lol sorry matey. Seriously I use a sram chain or the kmc ones but never Shimano as I tend to brake them undet my enormously tourqy legs. I bought clarks ones but they were heavy

The red Clark's one that you had and thought it would be faster didn't last long. Clark's stuff is poo.

960 miles isn't bad. I get less than that riding a few miles every day on a gritty wet track. I also like the drivetrain to be as clean as possible to prolong the life. I've tried various Shimano chains, SRAM and KMC and have settled for KMC as they gave me the best life per £ spent. I also swap between SRAM and XT cassettes depending on what is cheapest at the time.

SRAM is best - Shimano was poo.

Just that they are a pain to get off. I get a year out of my chain and I do the two rides with you each week mate...

Perhaps it's your awesome power that fails the chain..?

Shimano HG lasted over a year with me, only started going naff when i got lazy with the cleaning after each ride and it started to rust, i have since cleaned it and pushed it onto the Alpine and treated the bottlerocket to a wipperman black job made from brass ?? not even turned a pedal on that though.

If you're busting chains that often perhaps something is wrong with the setup, maybe you are running the chain too tight from the beginning ?

Take up gravity riding, same chain for a year :)

Rear mech takes care of the tension and it's never past 5 o clock even in big + big, if u know what I mean.. Just trying to gauge how long people get out of a 10 speed chain as it is narrower and I would of thought weaker. Maybe 5-6 month / 900mile is about right..

That's only to save from stretching the chain through the awesome power the legs deliver.
