Can someone please tell me what the 10 yard roll of universal tape is for in the Stans no tube kit???

The moulded rim strips I get and even the set up vid I have seen doesn't show the tape.

Its for covering the nipple holes if your wheels dont need the rim strips.

What wheels are they?

As surf bum says there is a vid on youtube hav used it myself ! remove the old rim strip & clean, fit new tape pulling the tape tight into the bead of the rim , over lap the tape by an inch then use something like a plastic tyre lever to remove any air bubbles ! cut a small cross & push through your valve and you should be good to go ;)

Hmm they are the alex rims that come as standard on the rockhopper.

Ive not looked into the stans kits before as I thought it was more complicated and faffy than it actually is, but I came across a vid that showed how to use the rim tape.

Why would the wheels need the rim strips in the first place? Why couldn't you just use the tape in the first place?

The stans tape is air tight ! over time you may loose air if the original rim type is not suitable for tubeless kits!

Rim strips are uses if the rims are not tubeless ready, the tape is used if they are tubeless ready.

Ok didnt know there was tubeless ready rims, I thought rims were either UST or standard. That would explain the diference.

Alex rims (as i have) - I just use the tape, presuming you have the right width, just to seal the holes than bang a tyre on. Job done!!
