Hi guys, Bought a new fork but couldn't find that piece that goes at the bottom of the steerer. Then I remove it from the old SID. Will I need it or is it true, it's missing and I'm doing it right? |

No, it's a Cane creek 110 integrated that I bought also from Lynskey at the same time. So it fits |

What's a race? It's a complete headset. Top comes with 41.8mm bearings at the bottom part with 52mm Edit: Yes, it comes with a crown race Edit2: The manual https://www.canecreek.com/resources/pro ... s_-_IS.pdf |

In the second picture the thin ring is what you need to put at the bottom of the stack and nothing else, its more of a dust cover than anything. The bearings are sealed units, the unsealed style headsets (of old or cheap sets) need a thick ring for the bearings to run on. |

Got it. So that metal ring in right fork on second picture is optional |

Thanks for the info. I need to find the right tool to put the race crown at the very bottom of the stereer |

I taped my down with a large flat screw driver either side, a bit of grease on the steerer as well. |

VW-surfbum wrote: And a persuasion tool It's taking long...I've done it now. Next step is to cut the steerer to the right size. I may need spacers. Saw a few days ago a tutorial for that. |

Pipe cutter works well and then just file the edge. Fitting the star washer is far easyer with the correct tool so may have to pop to the shop |
