Right here goes, I tried to buy jacket earlier in the year with no luck  sizes no good etc

So I've got a few vouchers and its shopping time again.. I'm asking on here for your opinions, I'm not a hardcore rider as you will know if you've met me..

My choices are Altura Nevis 2 and Mayhem.. I know they are a completely different type of jacket to each other but I basically want one that can do all..!! Pros and cons of each apart from cost..

I've read some bad things about Altura zips..??

One last question, how TRUE are the sizes as would be buying online.??

Anyone.??

They always remind me of Casper the Friendly Ghost when I see them coming towards me on the canal, sort of a disembodied torso ( if you can have that ) ..... effective though in spooky sort of way :?

I've got a mayhem and it's a good waterproof but not very breathable even with pit zips open

If you're looking at Altura then go to you local Halfords and try them on before buying online. Then you'll have the sizing sorted. I checked out the Proviz one but I wasn't convinced about the breathability of the material. I've had Altura jackets in the past (none with zip problems), but the current ones I wasn't impressed by the stitching so wasn't sure how they'd hold up with everyday us. I got a Tenn jacket off Amazon but their sizing is really weird so that went back, so I'm still searching too. May fork out for something a little more high end this time, with Goretex type fabric.

2 things, the proviz is almost identical to the altura in fitment and pockets etc. breathes really well which has surprised me tbh.

I really like the Madison ones with the hood, but £175 for a cacket that gets dirty and covered every ride and potentially ruined on your first OTB moment io think is a tad excessive?
Oh and how nice is that Fox stuff!
Image but again costs are mental

Hmmm, so you think the breathability of the Proviz one is good then. I quite liked the fit, the quality of the seams and stuff just seemed better than Altura and I can get that for around £60. Maybe I'll give that a go.

£7 decathlon does the job breath ability is good especially when removed and put in your pack after rain. If damaged in an OTB moment decathlon will give you a new one for just £7

Was looking at the Mayhem but read you boil in the bag a bit, and I run hot anyway. I read the zips are cack as well.

So told the missus to get me a Madison Zenith for crimbo. Not tried one but supposed to be ok for the money - can find them for £80.
The more breathable stuff eg Goretex, is closer to £200 than £100.

There have been various goretex jackets on sale in the last week or so. Sadly none my size. Halfords had one for £110.

Its and XL size and fits nicely, not cutting into me or anything. I went for a bigger size so can wear various layers and thicker tops underneath it.

Its a nice shaped jacket

I have both style Altura jackets (old style and new). one is s boil in the bag yellow jobby and this newer one is far better fit and finish.
