I thought I would share feedback on an SJCAM that my son bought himself.

Here is a short video from tonight's testing (take time to change quality to max or 1080p):

I didn't realise the card I put in it was 99% full so I only got 60 seconds of footage... what I would say is do the footage a favour and crank the quality up to 1080p - I think it goes punch for punch with a GoPro at this point.

Positives:

Cost - this is the non-wifi version and cost £52.27. They have a wifi version that is £10 more.
Accessories - comes with water proof case, bar mounts, wrist mounts and 3M pads/mounts for sticking on lid
Screen - there is a small screen on the back; great for admin and for setting up shots
Easy to use - the screen on the back means you can flick trough the set-up extremely easily
Packaging - the boxing/packaging was A1 - no complaints at all

Negatives:

Accessories - all the contact points on the swivel parts are going to need roughing up a little with sand paper - at the moment you tighten them up but there is still movement - not the end of the word though and a 10min fix
Case - Jamie had this on his head and whilst he could feel the button to start recording the feedback about whether he had started recording or not was not good. I had it on my GoPro chesty and it was better...

I ordered it for Jamie on the 2nd May and it arrived today (so 5 days delivery). I ordered it from here: http://eu.banggood.com/Wholesale-Warehouse-SJcam-SJ4000-HD-1_5-Inch-Car-DVR-Camera-Sport-DV-wp-Uk-942459.html

Next thing to test will be the battery life... but you only get 60 to 90 mins with a GoPro so a spare battery is always needed and their batteries are just £5.23 from the place I got it from! At that money I'll order 2 or 3...

All in all I think this will work well for Jamie and given the cost is probably a decent alternative to a GoPro.

Looks good, where you really notice the quality is when it's moving, looking forward of vids of Jamie flying

They are exactly the same quality as the GoPro mate. The rear footage on this was done with the SJCam:

I would have been just as happy with the GoPro looking back and the SJCam up front.

How do you mean mate? They are just standard GoPro chesty and the rear view was camera pointing backwards on lid.

That site says sold out now but plenty more on ebay, (and with wifi for £50 ish), Im tempted to get the 720 version about half the price.

Chest cam goes between your boobs or moobs :)

I quite fancy having a go with the reverse facing one.

I've got a copy of a copy, its footage is pretty decent but the software associated is dire.

I was after a look at the combo of mounts you are using and what way up etc.

There are so many combinations.
