| Post subject: | Floating rotors |
Ok so my new 203mm and 180mm uberbike floating rotors turned up in the post today Just got home and opened them up and I'm a little confused As I'm from a motorbike building and racing background I'm used to using floating rotors on my race bikes This is where I'm confused every floating rotor I've had floats ie it moves freely on the alloy mount the uberbike ones are mounted so tight they don't move making them a fixed two piece rotor not floating I then looked at the hope floating rotors and they are the same ??? Is it that the floating rotor for cycles are in fact just a two piece rotor not a floating rotor New to MTB biking is this a standard thing ??? |

Its a very standard design in MTB - but your are right, in motorbike speak, they are more like semi-floaters rather than full floaters which can align to the caliper etc. |

They are 2 piece rotors that allow expansion of the steel braking outer at the rivet points to stop the rotor warping due to heat build up during heavy braking. |
