Post subject:  Sheared compression bolt on headset

Applied too much torque to the compression bolt on my headset today, like an idiot, and sheared the bolt :( Does anyone know of a good bike shop that can fix it? I live Colchester way. The bike is okay to ride but i'd like to get it sorted..

Assuming you are talking about the bolt in the top of the headset that sets bearing tension.

Undo clamp bolts and hammer the star fangled nut along with the snapped bolt through the bottom of the fork.

Fit new one

Don't crank it down too tight
