Got a 2014 Boardman MTB FS PRO running a SRAM GSP BB. Got the inevitable wet weather creaking, which seems to carry on long after the trails and bike have dried out (weeks). The bike itself is only a year old and has done circa 110 miles. Looks to be English thread with an 83mm shell. Thinking I may as well upgrade rather than get the same again, looking at Shimano options, saint or Deore? But I've been told I can only replace GXP with GXP, didn't think this would be the case though? £30-40 for a BB for this bike is fine for me, as much as a admire the bling of Hope and Chris King, I think I would want to save that upgrade for a dream bike. Any thoughts/ideas? |

You can only use a GXP one as the internal diameter of the cranks are different. Buy either the std GXP one £ 20 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/sram ... -prod55194 Or a slightly better Uber one £29.00 https://www.uberbikecomponents.com/cate ... m-Brackets |

Thanks. Had looked at the Uber ones, but I think I need an 83mm and they are only 73mm? Been toying with going 1x which would mean new crankset anyway, maybe the BB can wait until I decide what I'm doing with all of that? IT ran silently on todays ride at Danbury. |

The only difference in the 73mm is the length of the plastic bit. Take from the old one. Why would it mean a change of crank going 1x ? It's usually just removing the only rings and putting on a narrow wide chain ring? What crankset is it? Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk |

It states Sram s1000 on the halfords website. It should be fine to run 1x unless it has another model on there. Worth noting you will prob need narrow bolts if you go 1 x |

Currently running S1000 dual ring. figured a single ring wouldn't bolt on properly and give chain line issues. As I only use the granny ring which is 28T It might be nice to have a slightly easier lowest gear, without losing anything for top speed, thinking maybe 30 or 32T chainring and change the cassette. But this is just at the idea stage right now. |

Works components do some nice cheap single rings, no need for shorter bolts as they are threaded. http://www.workscomponents.co.uk/works- ... -809-p.asp |
