Post subject:  New DH frame - devinci wilson - pics of first build up

So given the nice big dink in the Giant's chainstay and my impending pay cut I am very tempted to get a new frameset for DH use.

As most of you know I use the Giant for anything gravity related in the UK and the once a year trip to the alps. I will keep the same set up so totem coil up fron, saint brakes, sas wheels etc.

So the giant is currently set up as 6.7 inches of suspension via the maestro system with a fox dhx coil shock.

what i like about it is the slack geometry now I have the totems on it, the endless feeling of the suspension with a good pedal response, the very little brake jack.

what i dont like about it is the very low bb height which can mean I hit things! and the not too smooth small bump suspension.

budget is not a huge concern allthough I dont think I will be stretching to a carbon v10.

suggestions please.

So what u after bro - gravity slayerrrrrr or more of a park freeride bike?

Most DH beasts have 83 mm bb's and a 150 rear - can you move to that or do you want to stick with the 73 and 135 setup and reuse what u have?

What sorta level u wanna bring it in at mate? 1 or 1.5 or 2k?

Some good questions jonboy. Probably like to stick with 135 back end and 73 bb. Which points at not a full on dh race machine.

I guess if there was a killer deal I would consider a new wheel.etc.

If you dont want a DH slayer what about an intense UZZI 190mm of travel with adj geo

(nics will be 8 weeks wait btw so might not work if you want it pre alps)

Always liked the Corsair Maelstrom mate - 180 - on the back and 500 notes less than the intense and totem ready

Another possible is the Rose Beefcake frame

lokks great in black and very similar to the nicolai but obviously not as custom

Ah if thats your preferred avenue a proper 4 bar... check out the nox

Not massive amounts on them in English but they were set up but ex Nicolai welders - similar to rose - wicked German engineering without the frills. the Flux HC 8.0 looks spot on.

Loads of info on their german forum http://www.mtb-news.de/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=165

They are a whole world of BURL - frikken love em

Check out the devinci's too mate - quality Canadian stuff

The 7inch frantik could be a goer

But if it was me id go for the more DH Wilson which can be had for £1400 or £1500 with the new RC4

As ever a wealth of info from you jonboy.

but would you recommend a four bar?

Dont think it matters what system you go for as long as its well done... my single pivot Scott rides differently to the four Bar Nic - but neither is better or worse.

The shock is vital too.. go for the best you can.

Just took a Devinci Wilson for a ride. Super plush. So ordered a medium frame and pick it up next Saturday. Extra stuff to include saint cranks, e13 LG1 and superstar wheels. Should be awesome, just hope I get my totems back from fisher on warranty in time to build it fully.
